If you looking for ideas, in this article I selected top destinations in Europe to go cycling in each month of 2017. The pro cycling calendar is already exciting with the return of the Muur to De Ronde, the 100th Edition of the Giro and a Tour de France high mountain stage finish on the Izoard. There are many opportunities to combine your cycling trip around Europe with a classic event. Apart from that I share here some of my favourite cycling destinations in Europe for vacation, long weekend or training camp.

There are many options for a cycling holiday in Spain. Sierra Nevada, Pyrenees and the region around he Picos de Europa, including Cantabria, Asturias and Castilla & Leon, are great choices for climbing and a mountain holiday. The Canary Islands offer the warmest winter climate in Europe. Andalusia is another sunny place to go during Spring and Autumn. Mallorca is easily accessible and has a unbeatable infrastructure for the sport and a road cycling holidays. And there is the sea and mountain combination of Basque Country and Catalunya. It is unlikely will cover all these places, but here some of the cycle tours reviewed:
Tradition and passion go together with a cycling holiday in Italy. The Italian Alps is a place of legendary cycling climbs like the Mortirolo and Stelvio. It hosts also great sportives and cycling events such as the Marathon of the Dolomites and Eroica. Italy is also home of two of the cycling monuments: Milan-San Remo and Giro di Lombardia. Some of the cycle tours options are the Italian Lakes on the North, the Adrian and Tirreno coasts, Apennines Mountains, Tuscany, Umbria and the Islands of Sicily and Sardinia. Here is some of the areas visited:
If you like travel and watch the Tour de France regularly, it is likely that you have consider a holiday to follow the race and climb the Alpe d'Huez or the Tourmalet. It is consider by many the highlight of the cycling sport. You also probably have written down the name of many places and regions to visit as the TV Broadcast shows spectacular views from helicopter camera team. It is not only the mountain roads of the Alps, Pyrenees, Vogues or Massif Central, there is Provence, Corsica, Loire Valley, Normandy and Bretagne. Classic fans might like to explore the cobbles and roads from Paris to Roubaix.
Road cycling should be an activity simple to plan, book and enjoy everywhere. Unfortunately is not always the case. If you are in business trip in Madrid it would be difficult to join the local peloton after work or stay for the weekend rides, unless you take your bike in the plane, which is often not appropriate. We envision a day that it will be possible to hire a bike and join the peloton in major cities and holiday destination.
Bike travel is often challenging. It could be a turn on the wrong road, problems with the airline and a bad bed in the hotel. There are also the good sides as an unbeatable bargain, awesome views or top café. Our road cycling stories are authentic by sharing personal travel experience about each destination:
Fun, good health and environmental responsible attitude are the core of our trips. We focus on road cycling to keep it simple, but eventually we share some other cycling experiences. We want to become a top ranked travel platform for passionate cyclists.
What about your favourite Rides. It is likely that you have great information about places to go and rides to do. Do you have more cycling holiday information to share? It is likely that you are a local from destinations reviewed here, or even made a trip in the same place. We would like to hearing your comments about it. Share your own story: Contact us.
In the light of the Giro d’Italia 2016 stages in the Netherland's province of Gelderland, I thought about writing an article about the Achterhoek, a region featuring on stage 3 from Nijmegen to Arnhem. This predominantly rural area is one my road cycling backyards. Cycling in the Achterhoek combines beautiful countryside scenery, outstanding cycle paths and charming towns. It has curious attractions like a flamingo colony or museum of famous beer brand, and offer surprising activities such as mountain biking trails.
In this article I explore road cycling in the area around Conil de la Fronteira in the province of Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain. Conil is a beach front village and my it is not usually my first choice a cycling travel destination in Andalusia. Sierra Nevada and Granada would be my choices for a pure cycling holiday. However if you want to surf as well, then it might be one of the best places in continental Europe during this time of the year. The white washed village is on the Costa de la Luz and faces directly the Atlantic Ocean. So there you can combine road cycling and surfing.
Tuscany is one of world´s best cycle holidays destination. It provides an unique combination of bike trip and culture. On one side, the cycle routes crossing its rolling hills as ones from Strade Bianche, vineyards from Chianti or Montalcino, and hilltop medieval villages as Montepulciano. On the other side, heritage sites like Florence or Pienza, art from local genius Da Vinci and the cuisine, which is my favourite. After a long day riding you could recharge energy well with one of the region delicious specialties.
